Misunderstanding the Misunderstood
A collaboration between disciplines, helping to bring light to difficult topics
1 Minute Highlight
Collaboration
This project was rooted in collaboration with different disciplines. I was a part of a group of collaborators from the English, Art, and Design departments. Together, we designed a gameplay experience that explored the mind of an individual with ADHD. This was designed to inherit the qualities of individuals with ADHD from the personal lives of everyone who worked on the project, as well as research collected from some of our contributors. The player would be put into the shoes of an office worker, having to navigate the difficulties of having the struggles that come with ADHD. They would need to insert their password, which they misplaced, try to sort through boring revisions, all the while being pestered by coworkers and bosses. Time adds up, and if you didn't avoid the distractions, you’d face the consequences.
ACCAD at The Ohio State University made a significant contribution to the success of this project by providing resources and a workspace for the project.
The game was created in Unity, using VR and the Meta Quest 3.
I contributed to the code, animations, and visuals of the experience. I animated parts of the characters, specifically the intro coworker and some other assets. I programmed everything and did some voice acting as well.
This project was a great success and led to multiple play tests and great feedback from those who played it.
