Project Timeline: 2024 - 2025
This video covers the multiplayer interaction between two players within the Lichen Metaverse. There is no audio catering to the two volunteers who recorded the video. The two players have custom avatars that were scanned using lidar, then rigged in Blender and implemented using Unity. Within Unity, these players could see their avatars move with their bodies, as if they were actually embodying the lichen. The two players then explore their surroundings while placing items on one another. The item placement was a key point to add within the Metaverse, as it symbolizes the connection they have within the ecosystem they are in.
The Lichen Likers Metaverse was intended to create a space where people can be a part of an ecosystem. Using VR, the player is able to grab items and put them on themselves, making them the ecosystem themselves.
I rigged all the avatars, programmed the multiplayer functionality, and the rest of the code.
I also crafted the environment using assets from the Unity store.
